Eduardo B. Viotti
Legislative advisor for scientific and technological policies to the Brazilian Senate, and
Associate researcher and lecturer at the master program on Policy and Management of Science and Technology, Center for Sustainable Development, University of Brasilia, Brasilia, Brazil.
Eduardo B. Viotti, legislative adviser for scientific and technological policies to the Brazilian Senate and associate researcher and lecturer at the Policy and Management of Science and Technology Center for Sustainable Development at the University of Brasilia, has a large experience on policy making and policy analysis in Brazil.
His main research interests are on the relationship of science, technology and innovation with development; STI policies, national systems of innovation and learning, and STI indicators.
Viotti organized, together with Mariano Macedo, a large project on STI indicators commissioned by the Brazilian Ministry of S&T, which yielded the book Indicadores de Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação no Brasil, Campinas, Editora da Unicamp in November 2003. He has contributed to projects of international organizations, such as the International Development Research Center of Canada.
During 2004-2005, he worked for the Institute for Applied Economics Research where, among other tasks, he coordinated the chapter on innovation and competitiveness of the book Brasil: O Estado de Uma Nação or Brazil: The state of the nation (IPEA, 2005). He was visiting scholar in the Department of Economics of the New School for Social Research from 2000 to 2002).
He holds a B.A. in economics from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, a M.A. from the Universidade de Brasilia, and a Ph.D. from the New School for Social Research. He is member of the editorial board of the review Parcerias Estratégicas [Strategic Partnerships] edited by the Center for Strategic Management and Studies.
